What Scars Are For

"They remind me of your faithfulness and all You brought me through."  Lyrics off of a Mandisa song of this post title.  If I were to just make a one sentence summary for what our scars are for, this'd be it.  We all have stories of our scars; well, this is mine.

A good example of how scars can be used for our ministry is in Romans 8:28-"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called to his purpose."  The way I interpret this is that when we talk to others or non-believers and they aren't as convinced, we can share our experiences, these scars.

This also holds true for any "I should've been dead" miracles/moments like this jackknife back this past November.  That's right, I finally decided to go to a trucking school in Tampa to get the training I needed to start such a career  a year ago this July.  I always wanted to quit Burger King since my schedule gotten messed up and around along with the store manager that hired me quitting herself thus found trucking as my chance for such an escape.  I'm not gonna explain all in detail about the accident other than it being a "highlight" for my first ever visit to CA also further west than AL and Central Time.  What happened is that I'd dozed off a couple times for up to 5 or 6 seconds each time barely 10-20 miles, giv-r-take, west of Needles on I-40, an Interstate road I'm familiar with since it goes through Asheville, NC.  I just simply found myself struggling to get off the rough median and back on the road.  Thankfully, it was around 3am PST and hardly any traffic along with myself and co-driver as the sole victims and able to walk away on our own freewill.  About a month later, during my suspension, I had to call the company back on the status of their investigation only to find out I was fired after only five months on the job.  The worse that may have happened is had the truck rolled over.  I'll end this story here for now and move along.

Further on in the song, the lyrics "Erase, rewind-wish I could every time."  I'm sure y'all wished to do so as well since the scars can cut deep and wanna start over.  Even I have myself on several occasions, especially this preceding story.  Hard part is that we can't, only use it to teach us and share with others in hopes they don't repeat such mistakes.

Now, what I am about to put down is about as sensitive as it gets for me.  So, if I am to continue, we must approach some of the following content seriously else it'll seriously affect my digital, if not only my social, footprint.

Just like any other man, I've given into watching porn and "choking the gecko".  I've tried avoiding it for at least a couple months nearly 7 years ago yet slowly returned to it.  I realized this is a problem bigger than myself and need God to help me overcome the addiction.  This is a battle that, I feel at this moment, cannot be won through caution.  I also believe that this is to be yet another scar I want to use for my story.  I want to allow this to teach me as something He can use.  Because, this is what scars are for.
