My Review of the Bible

Well, no good review would be great without some intro, so here's where I've gone into the 2+ year journey that I'd completed this past Sunday.

It all started around February 2007. I'd been thinkin why not go on ahead and try reading it through once. So, one day that month, I started reading through Genesis and about halfway through Exodus in the KJV. At that point, I'd took about a year break onto it. During that time, I started going back to church with Oxford AG and discovered the ease of reading the NIV. So, around this past January, I went on ahead and bought said translation and started back onto reading it.

Now, I did take a couple more breaks from reading it once more. At least one was around the middle of last month. I was saying that if I'm able to finish the OT before my b-day, I'd take a break and start reading the NT at the first of the month. Even though there were 27 books in the NT, other canons aside, about half of them are letters. Other than that, it has been quite a ride and I've finally done it.

Now, without further stalling for time, my epiphany in a nutshell. We all know that Genesis was about the creation, birth of sin and pavement for Moses' arrival with Exodus and David. Yet in Exodus, we learn of the Commandments which I'll come back to later. Most of the OT was about the prophecy of Christ's arrival. We read that throughout those first 39 books that His people were to offer several sacrifices.

Up until the New Testament, sacrifices were done thus. When Jesus got into the picture, he came to fulfill the prophecies of the Old Testament and saying that he'll be the Greatest Sacrifice and The Sacrifice Once and for All. That is, no more animals should be slain for worship, but us to give ourselves as living sacrifices.

Later on in Paul's letters, he was stating that Jesus gave the two New Commandments (Love the Lord your God with all you strength, soul, and being. Love your neighbor as yourself.) to virtually cancel out the Old laws because they didn't work out as expected. True, I'm skipping some parts here, but that's what a nutshell's about, yeah? Not too much into details but the big bites and facts. Though I may edit this later on, but I'll let ya see my review along the way.
